Local Resident Ferry Service Between Mallaig and Inverie
This ferry service is exclusively available to eligible Knoydart residents travelling between Mallaig and Inverie.
The Local Residents Discount is available to passengers who are registered on the Electoral Roll as residents of Knoydart. This service provides an essential transport link between Inverie and the mainland for local residents.
Passengers should arrive at the pier 15 minutes before departure. If travelling by car, please allow enough time to unload your belongings and park your vehicle. Late arrivals may be refused boarding if loading or parking delays the scheduled sailing.
Inverie is a small isolated village 6 miles up Loch Nevis. Home to the remotest pub in Britain, “The Old Forge” known as Europe’s last wilderness. There is about 120 residents and with no road access the ferry service is they only link to main land services.
If you are staying at Inverie or just visiting for the day there is a lovely one hour cruise you can take from Inverie to Tarbet situated at the top of Loch Nevis. The scenery is stunning leaving Inverie at 15:00 Monday to Friday during April to end of October, this lovely little trip returns to Inverie at 16:15 before returning to Mallaig at 17:00.
All boats have toilets and drinks available on board.
