Looking for where to eat and drink in Knoydart?

Knoydart Wild Venison

Knoydart wild venison is a delicious meat harvested and butchered right here on Knoydart, it is completely natural, nutritious, very low fat, versatile and super tasty.  We utilise this valuable resource on our doorstep and transform it into convenient cuts from mince, diced, steaks and roasts right through to sausages, burgers, meatballs and more.  Small batch, high quality and freshly frozen – available all year round from the SHOP in Inverie and the Harbour Shop in Mallaig.  You can also order online – a piece of Knoydart delivered straight to your door with Royal Mail Next Day Delivery by 1pm (despatched on Mondays).

Wild deer are managed across the 17,500 acres of community owned Knoydart Foundation land – keeping the deer numbers low protects and enhances habitats, biodiversity and community, allowing natural regeneration, peatland restoration and native woodland expansion.  Venison is a completely sustainable source of food and income for Knoydart with all profits from Knoydart Wild Venison reinvested back into our community to provide jobs, housing and other community services. A truly ethical meat experience

Doune Dining Room

Join us for a unique dining experience at Doune, a former crofting community on the western tip of Knoydart, Britain’s last wilderness.
Doune was raised from ruins in the 1980s by Alan and Mary Robinson who originally accommodated and fed guests in their own home, White House.
Our five course winter lunch season recreates this experience with guests seated by a roaring fire in the original Doune Dining Room.
We serve sustainable, local produce, lovingly prepared by an award winning cook.
Rebecca Rutherford and Andrew Brodie
This is a lunch experience unlike any other. We’re confident our guests will enjoy fond memories for years to come.
Five course fixed lunch menu served every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Maximum eight guests
£55pp with comprehensive drinks menu available
Transport back to Inverie or Mallaig available at £5pp by car or £25pp by private boat

NB: From the road, Doune is accessed via a mountain path, approximately a 20 minute walk.
